Reign of Midnight

Pacing through the halls in the monastery
As the clock struck twelve
During a night that seemed ordinary
Midnight shadows began to delve.

The stained glass windows became alive
Words of wisdom were taught
Then started to thrive
Battles were fought.

Quills were dipped
Glinting knights rode forward
As monks were writing their manuscript
But could not be heard.

The short reign of midnight was subverted
And the stained glass reverted.
